Memory Impairment

Early Diagnosis

We all experience the loss of a memory.  I can’ find where I put my keys. Did I close the garage door? What is their name? These events do not prohibit you from carrying on with the day-to-day tasks and routine of life. However, there are signs that we should be aware of that prompt a person to seek medical advice.

The early diagnosis of clinical diseases associated with memory loss is key to successful treatment.

Early Warning Signs & Symptoms

  • Misplacing items in abnormal places
  • Unable to recall common words
  • Repeatedly asking the same question
  • Getting lost in familiar settings

Comprehensive Management

A diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer’s can bring about feelings of fear and hopelessness. In spite of that, an all-inclusive approach to dementia or Alzheimer’s care can empower a patient and give them the opportunity to plan advanced care, utilize hospice in a setting of their choice, and reduce urgent medical treatment. A comprehensive approach can improve care so that the patient feels engaged in the overall process leading to less unwanted dramatic incidences.

Comprehensive Care

  • Goals of care conversations
  • Advance care preferences
  • Enrollment in hospice
  • Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST)
